Overview
From September 2020 to November 2021, AfroLeadership won a call for projects with its Cameroon Open Participatory Budget, funded by the Ambassade of France in Cameroon (about 50 000 USD). Its main objectives were to build a platform for budget publication, strengthen capacity for citizen participation (journalists, youth, women, and people living with disabilities) in budget monitoring in 18 local councils in the Center, Littoral, West and Southwest regions.
In 2022, The International Budget Partnership (IBP) provided a grant (22 000 USD) to continue to work in the previous local councils and to extend the project to 5 other one. We added some local councils of the East and South regions.
With this US Embassy new funding opportunity, AfroLeadership intends to scale up the Cameroon Open Participatory Project (COPB). The main goal of this new program will be to contribute to increased participation, fiscal transparency of public budgets, to improve access to government services at local level, through improved governance practices, and to strengthened citizen participation in the monitoring of the budgets in local councils of Maroua I, Maroua II, Maroua III, Mokolo and Yagoua.
AfroLeadership is a civil society organization registered in 2010 in Cameroon, to promote Open Governance, Participatory Democracy, Participatory Budgeting, Fiscal Transparency, Accountability, Data Ethics, Data Rights, Internet Rights, Digital Rights, etc.
